Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

DURRANT, GEORGE FREDRICK. Corporal. No 8728. 2nd Battalion Manchester Regiment. Born Guildford, Surrey. Son of John and Elizabeth Durrant of Magnolia Villa, Manor Road, Guildford. Husband of Olive Annie Durrant. Employed by the Huddersfield Board of Guardians as a bookkeeper at Deanhouse Institution; (His wife was also on the staff at Deanhouse). As a reservist he was called to the colours on 4.8.1914. Reported missing at the Battle of Mons, 26.8.1914, aged 26 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated LA FERTE-SOUS- JOUARRE MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
