George Frederick Samuel Robinson (1827-1909)

George Frederick Samuel Robinson was the 1st Marquess of Ripon and was also known as Viscount Goderich (1833-1859), the Earl of Ripon (1859) and the Earl de Grey and Ripon (1859-1871).

Born at 10 Downing Street, London, the son of Prime Minister F.J. Robinson, 1st Viscount Goderich, he was a British politician who served in every Liberal cabinet from 1861 until his death. He was the Member of Parliament for Huddersfield from 1853 to 1857.

He laid the foundation stone of the Meltham Mills Convalescent Home on 28 October 1868.
