The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- CARTER, GEORGE. Private. No 28956. 9th Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment. Born Huddersfield. Son of Mr and Mrs R. Carter, 33 Malvern Road, Primrose Hill, Huddersfield. Attended Hall Bower Sunday School and was a member of the Primrose Hill Liberal Club and cricket club. Reported missing, presumed killed, 20.9.1917, aged 33 years. Buried in HOOGE CRATER CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 7, Row D, Grave 12.
