The History of Lockwood and North Crosland (1980) by Brian Clarke:

Situated on the north side of Swan Lane, to the east side of the present Swan Inn, this is one of the earliest recorded public houses in our area. Almondbury Parish Registers show in April 1733 the death of John, son of Thomas Frobbishaw, Innkeeper of Lockwood. For how long this establishment lasted is not certain for although the name Frobbishaw does not appear in the 1771 Brewster Sessions, the name is shown on the North Crosland Inclosure Act map of 1779.
