Fred Whitaker (c.1895-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

WHITAKER, FRED. Private. No 208030. 704th Company, Labour Corps. Born Outlane. Eldest son of the late Mr Ernest Whittaker and of Mrs Whittaker, 30 New North Road, Crimble, Slaithwaite. Employed as a night feeder by Messrs Pogson and Company, Bridge Street Mills, Slaithwaite. Attended Crimble Congregational Mission. Enlisted at the outbreak of the war. Died of pneumonia at No 42 Casualty Clearing Station on 5.11.1918, aged 23 years. Buried DOUAI BRITISH CEMETERY. Grave location:- Row A, Grave 21.
