Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

WRIGHT, FRED STANLEY. Private. No5/4581. 1/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Huddersfield 18.11.1889. Son of William Henry and Pamela Wright, 238 Halifax Old Road, Grimscar, Huddersfield. Educated Hillhouse Council School. Employed as a porter by Messrs Boots Limited, chemists. Single. Enlisted October 1915. Killed by a shell whilst on sentry duty on 12.8.1916 during the Battle of the Somme. He was 27 years of age. Buried CONNAUGHT CEMETERY, THIEPVAL. Grave location:- Plot 3, Row J, Grave 6.
ROH:- Fartown and Birkby War Memorial; All Saints Church, Paddock; Huddersfield Drill Hall.
