- HIRST, FRED. Private. No 5/241361. 1/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Son of Sarah Ann Hirst, 55 Station Road, Brockholes, Huddersfield. Attended Brockholes Wesleyan Chapel. Employed by Messrs Robinson, Smithy Place, Brockholes. Enlisted at the beginning of 1916. Killed in action, 3.9.1916, aged 19 years. Buried CONNAUGHT CEMETERY, THIEPVAL. Grave location; Plot 1, Row C. Grave 26.
