Fred Crabtree (c.1895-1917)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

CRABTREE, FRED. Private. No 241553. 2/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Slaithwaite. Third son of Mr and Mrs Edwin Crabtree of Colne View, Slaithwaite. Employed as a dyer's labourer by Messrs William Brook and Sons, of Slaithwaite. Attended Carr Lane United Methodist Church. Enlisted March, 1916, and embarked for France in January, 1917. Reported missing at the Battle of Bullecourt, 3.5.1917, aged 21 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated on the ARRAS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
