Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BLACKBURN, FRED. Lance Corporal. No 23147. 13th Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment. Born Taylor Hill, Huddersfield. Son of David And Eleanor K. Blackburn, 65 Barcroft Road, Close Hill, Huddersfield. Educated at Berry Brow Council School and Huddersfield College. Employed as a weaver by Messrs Kaye and Stewart of Lockwood and formerly was a grocer's assistant at the Close Hill Cooperative Stores. Attended Taylor Hill Primitive Methodist Church and Sunday School. Enlisted 6.8.1915. Killed in action, 19.7.1916, aged 26 years. Buried in MAROC BRITISH CEMETERY, GRENAY, FRANCE. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row J, Grave 32.
