Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BATES, FRED. Guardsman. No 21465. 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards. Born Towngate, Newsome 10.11.1896. Only son of Mrs Ellen Bates of Newsome. Educated at Newsome School. Was in business on his own account as a carrier. Married, with one child. Died of wounds at No 19 Casualty Clearing Station, 19.9.1918. Buried in SUNKEN ROAD CEMETERY, BOISLEUX-ST-MARC. Grave location:- Plot 2, Row D, Grave 13.
ROH:- St. John's Church, Newsome.
