Frank Bottomley (c.1889-1920)

An ongoing project to commemorate and research the lives of those who appear on war memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, who served in the military, or whose deaths were linked to conflict.

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BOTTOMLEY, FRANK. Bombardier. Royal Field Artillery. Lived Old Lane, Hinchliffe Mill, Holmfirth. Employed at Farrar's Dyeworks, Honley. Played cricket with the Holmbridge and Cartworth Moor teams. Was a member of the Hinchliffe Mill brass band. Attended Hinhcliffe Mill Wesleyan Chapel. Married, with three children. Enlisted August 1916. Saw service in Damascus and Mesopotamia. Returned home on 5.1.1920. Died at home on 27.1.1920, aged 31 years. Buried HINCHLIFFE MILL WESLEYAN CHAPEL.
