The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

UNDERWOOD, FRANCIS (FRANK) RICHARD. Private. No 25511. 7th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. Born Stepney, London. Came to Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, in 1912. Apprenticed to Mr Harry Walker, tailor, Hill Top, Slaithwaite. Reported missing, presumed killed, 8.11.1916. Has no known grave. Commemorated THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
