Farnley Tyas Urban District

The Farnley Tyas Urban District was formed at the end of 1894, replacing the Farnley Tyas Local Board.

The district was administered by Farnley Tyas Urban District Council. The elected urban districts councils replaced Local Boards following the Local Government Act of 1894 and were given increased powers and responsibilities under the Act.

The first meeting of the Farnley Tyas Urban District Council took place on Wednesday 2 January 1895. Mr. J.S. Roberts was appointed as chairman.[1]

Under the Representation of the People Act of 1918, the urban district became part of the Colne Valley Parliamentary Division.[2]

On 1 April 1925, the urban district was merged with Thurstonland Urban District to become the combined Thurstonland and Farnley Tyas Urban District.
