Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SUTCLIFFE, ERNEST HENRY. Private. No 39747. 14th Infantry Labour Company, Lincolnshire Regiment, transferred to No 31620 53rd Company, Labour Corps. Born Slaithwaite. Only son of Mr and Mrs Alfred Sutcliffe, Carr Lane, Slaithwaite. Was in business with his father as a painter and paper-hanger. Married, with one child. Enlisted 1.12.1916. Embarked for France in March, 1917. Killed instantly by a stray shell on Friday, 17.8.1917, aged 35 years. Buried THE HUTS CEMETERY. DICKEBUSCH, BELGIUM. Grave location:- Plot 4, Row A, Grave 8.
