Ernest Edwin Spivey (1893-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SPIVEY, ERNEST EDWIN. Private. No 036234. Depot Battalion Army Ordnance Corps. Formerly 1/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Fleming House Lane, Dalton, Huddersfield, 20.6.1893. Son of Mrs M. N. Spivey, 484 Wakefield Road, Dalton. Educated Moldgreen Council School. Husband of Emilie Spivey, of Lascelles Hall, Kirkheaton. Employed as a plush weaver by Messrs Dyson, Hall and Company Limited, Greenside Mills. Enlisted 4.8.1914. Wounded three times and gassed twice. Died suddenly following an operation at the Royal Herbert Hospital, Woolwich, London, on 31.12.1918. Buried KIRKHEATON CEMETERY, HUDDERSFIELD. Grave location:- 'C', 2061.

Brother of Private HERBERT HENRY SPIVEY killed in action at Gallipoli, 19.8.1915.
