Ernest Duce (1895-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

DUCE, ERNEST. Private. No 20410. 1st West Riding Divisonal Cyclist Company, Army Cyclist Corps. Formerly No 133 West Riding Divisional Cyclist Corps. Born Stoney Lane, Taylor Hill, Huddersfield, 22.8.1895. Son of the late Herbert and Mrs Duce. Educated at Lockwood Church of England School. Employed by Messrs B. Vickerman and Sons Limited of Taylor Hill as an apprentice loom tuner. Single. Enlisted 6.11.1915. Killed in action at the Canal du Nord near Cambrai, 4.9.1918, aged 23 years. Buried ONTARIO CEMETERY, SAINS-LES-MARQUION. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row B, Grave 14.
