Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

CARTWRIGHT, ERNEST. 2nd Lieutenant. 5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Son of Herbert and Minnie Cartwright, Co-operative Terrace, Wooldale. Educated at Holmfirth Day School. Attended Wooldale Wesleyan Church and Sunday School, being a member of the Church choir. Employed by Mr W E Goldthorpe, mill furnisher, of Thongsbridge. Married. Enlisted at the outbreak of the war in the 9th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment as a signaller. Killed in action near Famars, 1.11.1918, 26. Buried MAING COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION. Grave location:- Row C, Grave 5.
