Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

ARMITAGE, ERNEST. Private. No 3180. 1/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Grafton Place, Huddersfield, 30.4.1891. Son of Mr Albert Armitage. Lived with his Aunt, Mrs Peace, 16 West Parade, Huddersfield. Attended Trinity Church School, Huddersfield. Worked as a stockbroker's clerk for Messrs Robert Ramsden and Company, Byram Arcade. Played tennis with Paddock Tennis Club. Enlisted October 1914. Embarked for France April, 1915. Died of appendicitis at No 13 General Hospital, Boulogne, 25.11.15. Buried in BOULOGNE EASTERN CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 8, Row C, Grave 60.
