Edwin Spencer (c.1893-1915)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922
The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- SPENCER, EDWIN. Private. No 13445. 'Y Company, 8th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Leeds. Son of the late Thomas Fisher Spencer and Sarah Agnes Spencer, of Wilshaw near Meltham. Employed at the bobbin mill of Messrs Jonas Brooke and Brothers, Meltham Mills. Enlisted at the end of August, 1914. Went to the Dardenelles as part of the 32nd Brigade, 11th Division, Mediterrean Expeditionary Force. Died of wounds at sea, sustained in the Dardenelles fighting, on 23.8.1915, aged 22 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated HELLES MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
