Duffin & Peace were woollen and cloth merchants situated at 5 St. John's Road, Huddersfield.

The founders were Wilfred Duffin[1] and Walter Ellis Peace (1879-1953).[2]

An invoice dated 1 March 1944 gave the firm's telephone number as Huddersfield 1308.

The company became Dugdale Bros. (Manufacturing) Ltd. on 31 December 1977 and later Dugdale Bros. & Co. Ltd.[3], who currently trade from 5 Northumberland Street.


Notes and References

  1. Born 8 July 1877, he married Margaret Ann Hampson in 1909. Retired by 1939 to Bridlington and died at Buckrose in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
  2. Born 1879 in Huddersfield, he married Amelia Jane Ainsworth in 1909. In later years he resided on New Hey Road, Lindley, and died in October 1953 aged 74.
