Donald Beardsell (c.1895-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BEARDSELL, DONALD. Private. No 241842. 12th Battalion Highland Light Infantry. Born Holme, Holmfirth. Son of Mr and Mrs B. Beardsell, Field Head, Holme. Educated at Holme Council School and a scholar at Holme Sunday School. Employed by Messrs Whiteley and Green, Hinchliffe Mill Mills. Enlisted May 1916. Invalided home on account of disease. Treated at various hospitals, including Holmfirth Auxiliary Hospital. Returned to duty in Ireland and Scotland and then returned to France in the Spring of 1918. Died of wounds, 9.8.1918, aged 23 years. Buried in ARNEKE BRITISH CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 3, Row C, Grave 10.
