Dogley Lane Toll Point, Highburton

The Dogley Lane Toll Point was a former toll house on the Huddersfield and Penistone Turnpike road, marked on the 1854 O.S. map and situated on the eastern side of the road.

The toll house was also the location of an Ordnance Survey height bench mark cut, levelled to a height of 332.3250 feet (or 332 13/40 feet) and recorded by the surveyor as "No. 16. Mark on North side of door of Dogley-lane Toll-house ; 4.96 ft. above pavement".[1]
