The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

WHITEMAN, DANIEL. Private. No 33291. 12/13th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. Born 78 Northumberland Street, Huddersfield, 15.2.1896. Son of William Henry and Catherine Whiteman, 78 Northumberland Street, Huddersfield. Educated St. Patrick's Roman Catholic School. Employed as a labourer by the Huddersfield Brick and Tile Company. Single. Enlisted August 1916. Killed in action, 8.10.1918, aged 22 years. Buried PROSPECT HILL CEMETERY, GOUY. Grave location:- Plot 4, Row F, Grave 12.
