Charles Horn (1892-1918)

An ongoing project to commemorate and research the lives of those who appear on war memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, who served in the military, or whose deaths were linked to conflict.


Charles Horn was born at Delph, Saddleworth, the son of Mary Emma Horn.

By 1911, he was residing with his mother and stepfather, William Brierley, and working as a woollen weaver.

HORN, CHARLES. Private. No 77662. 23rd Battalion Cheshire Regiment. Formerly No 28381 Northumberland Fusiliers. Born Delph. Enlisted Halifax. Lived Marsden. Killed in action, 31.8.1918. Buried NIEPPE-BOIS (RUE-DU-BOIS) BRITISH CEMETERY, VIEUX-BERQUIN. Grave location:- Row D, Grave 15.
