The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

McDERMOTT, CHARLES EDWARD. Private. 11th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Water Lane, Huddersfield. Educated St. Patrick's Roman Catholic School. Husband of Elizabeth McDermott, 27 Violet Street, Turnbridge, Huddersfield. Employed as a window cleaner. Enlisted 24.8.1914. Died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, of pneumonia aggravated by war service, on 1.9.1919.
