A selection of individuals who served with the Yorkshire Hussars, which was originally formed as a volunteer cavalry in 1794 during the French Revolutionary Wars.
During the First World War, the 1st line (1/1st Battalion) served on the Western Front and saw action at Ypres, Loos, Aubers Ridge, Arras, and Passchendaele. Due to the static nature of trench warfare, the battalion increasing served as an unmounted infantry unit. The 2nd line (2/1st Battalion) were initially a mounted brigade stationed in East Yorkshire but were converted to a cyclist brigade in 1916.
