Category:Failed railway schemes
The following are proposed railway schemes which, for various reasons, were abandoned.
Several of the schemes included proposals to improve the rail access between Huddersfield and Halifax, and those often met with opposition from the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Company (L&YR) who held a monopoly on the lines in the Upper Calder Valley. In turn, the line proposed in 1866 by the L&YR met strong opposition from landowers and the London & North Western Railway (L&NWR).
