Berry Brow Mechanics' Institute

Berry Brow Mechanics' Institute was in existence by 1851 and held meetings in the "large school room attached to Salem Chapel".[1]

By the mid 1860s, woollen cloth manufacturer Thomas Etchells[2] of Dungeon House, Berry Brow, was the chairman of the institute.[3]
