Benjamin Arthur Fitton (c.1891-1916)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922
The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- FITTON, BENJAMIN ARTHUR. Air Mechanic 2nd Class. No 17729. 'C' Squadron, Royal Flying Corps. 2nd Training Centre. Son of Mr and Mrs Fitton of Meadow House, Shepley. Educated Spring Grove Council School. Employed by Messrs John Robinsons Limited, of Leeds Road. He left Huddersfield to take up newspaper work and at the time of his enlistment he was engaged by a London agency for the supply of photographs for the illustrated papers. He attempted to enlist in the Royal Flying Corps on several occasions but was rejected on the grounds of poor eyesight. Died from fever whilst in training, 17.2.1916, aged 24 years. Buried CURRAGH MILITARY CEMETERY, COUNTY KILDARE, IRELAND. Grave location:- Grave No 1222.
