Benjamin Albert Hey (c.1847-1918)

Benjamin Albert Hey — also known as Albert Hey — was a tailor and woollen merchant, and reportedly a co-founder of the Shelley & Shepley Gas Company.[1]


He was born in Shepley, the son of Michael Hey.

He married Emma Chambers, daughter of John Chambers, on 24 December 1873 at Derby and they resided at Osborne House, Shepley.

He served on Shepley Local Board and then Shepley Urban District Council.

Benjamin Albert Hey died on 29 May 1918, leaving a substantial estate of £14,171 3s 11d. He was buried at the Providence Methodist New Connexion Chapel.

Emma Hey died aged 79 on 4 December 1926.
