Aspley, Huddersfield
Aspley is an area of low-lying ground situated to the north of Somerset Bridge in the townships of Dalton and Huddersfield.
The name suggests it was once a clearing where aspen trees grew.
Dr. George Redmonds has noted that the building of the canal basin at Aspley in the 1770s made it a desirable location to live. Aspley Place was the residence of Sir John Ramsden's agent.[1]
