Arthur Sunderland (c.1898-1918)

An ongoing project to commemorate and research the lives of those who appear on war memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, who served in the military, or whose deaths were linked to conflict.

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SUNDERLAND, ARTHUR. Private. No 49290. 15th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers. Formerly No 29457 Yorkshire Dragoons. Born Linthwaite. Son of John and Leah Sunderland, 1 Lane Side, Linthwaite. Was a former chorister in the Linthwaite Parish Church choir. Attended Milnsbridge Baptist Chapel. Was a member of Hoyle Ing Working Men's Club. Employed as a piecer by Messrs George Mallinson and Sons Limited. Enlisted 24.4.1918. Killed in action, 10.9.1918, aged 20 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated VIS-en-ARTOIS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
