The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- ENGLAND, ARTHUR. Private. No 4741. 2/5th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment. Born Penistone. Lived Cumberworth. Son of Ben and Janet England. Prior to enlistment he worked as a carrier between Huddersfield and Cumberworth. Single. Was a member of the Cumberworth Wesleyan Reform Choir. Enlisted March 1917. Died of wounds at No 4 Casualty Clearing Station, 7.3.1917, aged 36. Buried VARENNES MILITARY CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row I, Grave 83.
