Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BATLEY, ARTHUR. Private. No 14478. 12th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. Born Holmfirth. Son of Thomas and Annie Batley of Hinchliffe Mill. Educated at Dobb School and attended the Hinchliffe Mill Wesleyan Sunday School, where he was a member of the choir. Worked as a costumier on his own account in Leeds. Enlisted August 1914. Embarked for France August, 1915. Killed in action, 5.4.1917, at the Battle of Arras, aged 23 years. Buried in FAUBOURG D'AMIENS CEMETERY, ARRAS. Grave location:- Plot 2, Row O, Grave 27.
