A beerhouse that is believed to have existed in the 1830s and possibly established by George Mellor who is listed as a retailer of beer at Meltham Mills in Pigot's 1834 directory.

This may also have been the beerhouse which, according to Hidden Depths: Meltham Mills Reservoir (compiled by Alan Laurie) supplied beer to the nearby shop on Shady Row established by the Meltham Mills Provident Co-operative Trading Society Limited in 1827.
