Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BOTTERILL, ALFRED ROSE. Private. No 23953. 10th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Bishop Wilton. Yorkshire. Lived at The Knowle, Shepley. Employed by Messrs Firth Brothers. Keenly interested in rabbits and had been a successful exhibitor. Enlisted March, 1916, and embarked for France on 14.9.1916. Killed in action, 5.10.1916, aged 19 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
