Alfred Clay (c.1879-1917)

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- CLAY, ALFRED. Gunner. No 118313. 261st Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery. Born Slaithwaite. Son of Mr and Mrs Tom Clay, 64 New North Road, Crimble, Slaithwaite. Employed as head warehouseman by Messrs W. and E. Crowther Limited, Crimble Mills, Slaithwaite. Was a member Slaithwaite Conservative Club. Enlisted September 1916. Embarked for France June, 1917. Killed in action, 27.7.1917, aged 38 years. Buried HAGLE DUMP CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 3, Row C, Grave 4.
