Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

FOSTER, ALAN EDWARD. Corporal. No 11124. 8th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Sheffield 4.5.1889. Son of William Henry and Ann Eliza (nee Wragg) Foster, 6 Norman Avenue, Birkby. Educated at Western Road and Broomhill Board Schools, Sheffield. Employed as a draughtsman by Hopkinsons of Birkby. Single. Enlisted 26.8.1914. Reported wounded and missing in the assault on Ismail Oglu Tepe, Suvla, Gallipoli, 21.8.1915, and afterwards presumed to have been killed on that date. He was 26 years of age. Has no known grave. Commemorated HELLES MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING, GALLIPOLI.
