Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

MEAKIN, A. HERBERT. Gunner. No 26735. 75th Battery, Royal Field Artillery. Born Nottingham. Lived 1 Bankend, Heath House, Golcar. Married, with one child. Employed as a fettler by Messrs George Whiteley, of Linthwaite. Was a Reservist with only three months to serve when the war broke out. Killed in action, 24.4.1915, aged 32 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated MENIN GATE MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
