  • A young woman residing at Delph near Huddersfield falls asleep whilst ironing and her clothes catch fire. She “languished in the most excruciating torture for three days” from severe burns before dying.
  • Edward Houghton, clothier of Lane Side, Huddersfield, declared bankrupt.

July

  • Samuel Moseley the Younger, merchant of Huddersfield, declared bankrupt.

August

  • Mr. Wadsworth, attorney-at-law of Huddersfield, marries Miss Ogden, daughter of Rev. Ogden of Birstall.
