The following events took place in 1781...

January

  • Edward Mundell, linen draper of Huddersfield, declared bankrupt.

April

  • Thomas Chadwick (aged about 15) is killed crossing Londroyd Bridge. He was pitched from his horse and “fractured his skull in so terrible a manner” against the bridge’s wall.
  • William Willson, cloth dresser of Huddersfield, declared bankrupt.
