  • The Evening Post reports that the woollen trade around Huddersfield "has revived greatly within these three weeks" due to "prodigious orders" placed by the contractors for the British Army in America.


  • William Sykes, “eminent clothier at Folly Hall near Huddersfield”, marries Miss Sarah Schofield, daughter of William Schofield of Dalton and “an agreeable young lady, with a handsome fortune”.
