November

  • Newspaper report that Michael Atkinson, “master and inventor of the curious frizzing mills at Huddersfield”, has contrived a machine which could “go without horses” and “it is not doubted will carry goods to and from the mills before Christmas”.
  • A "young gentleman of fortune" shoots himself "in a field near his own house" near Huddersfield.
