Electoral Registers: South Division
The county electoral registers compiled by the West Riding Quarter Sessions clerk of the peace were split into two from 1862; the two divisions were known as North and South. A third division, known as Mid or East Division, was then created in 1869.
This system came to an end following the Registration Act 1885 when tenants as well as property owners were given the right to vote. As the result electoral registers became much larger and they were therefore split into smaller constituency divisions.
See here for a list of the Polling Districts within this Division for 1868-1870 and 1871-1885.
