1928 Attendance Card
"Special Certificate for Good Attendance" card for Frederick Rice (1918-1998), issued in 1928 by the Moldgreen Council School and stamped by the head teacher, John Francis Gent (1870-1943).
Frederick — named after his paternal grandfather — was born on 6 January 1918, the son of Harold and Frances Brydon Rice (née Scott). The 1939 Register lists 21-year-old Frederick as a mineral water drayman and living with his parents in the house of his grandmother, Elizabeth Rice (née Booth), at 35 Victoria Street, Moldgreen. His father is recorded as an engineer's pattern maker and his mother worked as a woollen piecer.
Although parts of Victoria Street were cleared during the widening of Wakefield Road, number 35 still stands: goo.gl/maps/HNEMZb1QSxS2
