Portrait of Samuel Chapman

Damaged studio portrait of draper Samuel Chapman (1861-1897?) by photographer John Edward Shaw.

Samuel married Minnie Hammond (1867-1936) on 18 September 1895 and their son Ronald (1896-1914?) was born the following year. Samuel's drapery business (known as the Bee Hive) was declared bankrupt in 1897 and it seems his death was recorded in Q1 1897 at Huddersfield. Minnie and Ronald had immigrated to America before the end of the year.
