23rd June,, 1943.
Transport restrictions caused by the War continue to be such that the Government have again appealed to us: to take our holidays at home and urged the Huddersfield Cor- poration, in common: with other local authorities, to again provide entertainment for those who respond to the appeal.
Huddersfield two years ago pioneered the "Holidays at Home*'" movement and very popular has been the venture. Successful and varied as. were the Holidays at Home pro- grammes, of 1941, and,, 1942_._however, . the,. Committee responsible for making the arrangements for this summer were determined to spare no effort to provide attractions «of a variety and standard even excelling those organised in the previous years. A perusal of this programme will prove I think that the Committee have been successful. Amuse- ments and recreation are provided for young and old alike and for people of varying tastes, 'so that those who remain in Huddersfield for their holiday are assured of ample entertainment.
1 hope that the citizens of Huddersfield will take
full advantage of the facilities offered them, and, enjoying
their holidays, will return to school or work refreshed and wejuvenated.

Our Ghanks and Appreciation;
f. : Once more we bring before you our programme or events for the entertainment and enjoyment of our citizens in the third successive year of "Holidays at Home,"
As Huddersfield were the pioneers of the at Home"" Movement we take :a certain amount of pride in the facilities provided for your diversion and entertainment.
We have endeavoured, as far as war conditions will allow, to provide fare for young and old, the 'high brow' and the 'mediocre,' but we are 'cognisant of the fact that many of the events are dependent for their succes/s upon the weather, and should we be favoured in this direction, we hope you will make the best of it and enjoy yourselves to thenfull. f
1 want to thank, very sincerely, ~ the hard-working committee and the band of enthusiastic voluntary helpers in all departments, without whose assistance, the task of organisation would have been almost impossible. > With their perseverance and self-sacrifice, we are able 3 to place before you a "five weeks holiday programme," which we hope will meet with your approval and that pleasant memories of your "Holidays at remain with you for a long time. at! , To all who have already, and to those who will, during the five weeks outlined in this handbook give of their services, | tender my grateful thanks.
Yours sincerely,
Chairman of Committee.
Page 54
A Final Word.
The centre of attraction will be Greenhead Park, one of your parks, and given favourable weather we fully anticipate that many thousands will visit the park during the period of the holiday, programme. We want you to respect the flowers, trees and shrubs- your property, and to assist us in preventing their being damaged by acts of thoughtless
people and deliberate destruction.
