Upper Sunnybank Mills was originally built by Alfred Thomas Woodhead in 1809. The five storey part of the mill burned down in 1890. Was water driven, then steam and was over from steam to all electric over about 4 years completing the task in 1954. It became a Limited Company in 1912, and employed about 40 operatives and closed in 1989 ending 180 years of Woollen Yarn Spinning
